Board of Trade Opened

The board of trade (now Chamber of Commerce) was established.

Ferry System

First regular ferry system across the river at New Westminster was started by the ferry "K de K".

 

 

 

1886

Railway Link

The CPR reached New Westminster.

 

 

 

1887

Hospital Opened

Saint Mary's Hospital opened.

 

 

1889

RCH moved / New Complex Built

The Royal Columbian Hospital moved to Sapperton and a major exhibition complex of buildings was built in Queens Park.

 

 

 

1891

First Electric Lighting

The City's first electric lights were turned on.

 

 

 

1892

City Market / Streetcar Service

The first official city market was opened and regular streetcar service commenced between the City and Vancouver.
