Westminster Building
709-713 Columbia St.
Important historically as the City's first skyscraper, it rose a towering 8 stories when built in 1912. The design of architects Gardiner and Mercer reflects the Chicago School of commercial architecture. The red brick exterior is decorated with white terra cotta trim. Originally owned by Westminster Trust and Safe Deposit Company, it housed 124 business offices and the Westminster Club, which occupied the top two floors.
