121 St. Patrick Street formerly 433 Carnarvon Street
Philpott House (1905) 'Westham'Captain W.H. Philpott, a master mariner, named his house after a village in Essex, England. 'Westham' was built during the Late Victorian Period in the Eastern Shingle style featuring a columned verandah, dominant front gable and side dormer. In May 1990, this house was relocated from 433 Carnarvon to a vacant lot at 119 St. Patrick Street in order to prevent demolition of the building. The name 'Westham', which wa set in the front walk of the Carnarvon Street location in octagonal white and black tiles, is now situated by the back door at the new location. A 14 ft. wide child's playhouse, associated with the original Carnarvon Street site, is being restored by the New Westminster Heritage Preservation Society as a Museum display.
Total floor space is 4,517 (First floor 1,433, Second floor 1,271, Attic 400, Basement 1,413) [source: Planning Department Memorandum 1994 February 08].
