217 Ninth Street
Thomas and Elizabeth Turnbull House (1888)
Victorian Cottage Style

Builder and long time resident Thomas Turnbull constructed this house in 1888. Built in the Victorian Cottage style, the Turnbull House was the first dwelling on Ninth Street and remains a true New Westminster pioneer home. The property is well maintained and its exterior features an original bay window, wood windows, front porch and siding. The interior of the house has been restored back to its original 1888 condition with high ceilings, a ceiling plaster medallion, original fir floors, period doors, and hardware and fixtures. Some of the unique interior features of the house include a Scottish Flag built into the porch railing design and a wooden ceiling in the dining room.
