J.E. Phillips House (1893)
Pioneer Tent Style - High Victorian Period

This house was designed by noted architect G.W. Grant, who designed the New Westminster Court House and buildings on the Woodlands site. It is simple in architectural style and complements other houses on the street. It is also part of a cluster of vernacular buildings along Queen's Avenue, two of which were also designed by G. Grant. This house is characteristic of the Pioneer tent style of the High Victorian period of architecture and features a simple front gabled roof with decorative vergeboard on the gable.
