Chamberlain House (1910)
Edwardian & English Cotswold styles

This house was built in 1910 by John Chamberlain, a BC Electric Railway Company repairman. It was originally built in the Edwardian Arts and Crafts style of architecture. In 1921, the exterior of the house was extensively altered by the owner, Frederick Spooner, who is listed in the BC Directories as an “attendant, insane asylum”. The house was transformed into a style known as the English Cotswold Cottage style, featuring a pitched swooping roofline and partially enclosed porch.
